Reporting renders corporate objectives and performance transparent. Far from being an optional extra, it is in fact essential and in many cases externally audited. Only then can it foster trust and acceptance among stakeholders.

These days, CR/sustainability reports come in many guises: they may be published online or in print or a combination of the two; they may claim a chapter or two of the annual report or form a separate report in their own right. But whatever form they take, the coordination of such reports has become considerably more complex in recent years, making the involvement of external auditors all the more important.
